Yes, Ken, viscious personal attacks on breast implants.
My mother was the recipient of a breast implant in the early 80's.
In 1989, just several years later, my Da came home to find my mother
almost comatose in the livingroom in a chair.
She was in so much pain that she'd almost lost her mind.
She was rushed to the ER and it was found there that she was bleeding
profusely from her uterus. Upon trying to remove it, they found a
substance surrounding her uterus that had cased deterioration of it,
as well as her pelvic muscles, her ovaries, and more.
Upon further inspection they found that her breast implant had leaked,
and the silicone had traveled along her abdomen to her pelvis where it
settled and did so much damage.
My mother spent hours upon hours in emergency surgery having organs
removed and doctors trying to clean up the silicone that had
practically spread through her whole torso.
Years later my mother would begin having backaches and no cause found
for it.
After six months of x rays and blood tests and MRIs her doctor came to
her room one Sunday and my mother told her she should be at home on a
sunday. Anna replied that she had come in to go to the church across
the street and pray for my mother after telling her that she had
Leukemia.
ALL, Ken, at the age of 54. No one will ever be able to convince me
that the Leukemia, and her subsequent death, were not a product of the
broken breast implant.
Yes, Ken, I hold a very STRONG opinion on the dangers of breast
implants. Partly because of all the years that my mother was often
unable to even walk to the bathroom by herself. The other part is the
two months I spent with her at Rush hospital before she died, helping
her to the toilet with her head laid against my stomach, arms around
my waist sitting on the toilet crying while she 'evacuated' toilet
bowls full of blood. It's the day that my father came to see her and
was so shocked and touched by hear appearance, even though they hadn't
been married in thirty four years, that he went out to the parking
garage and slumped against his car bawling. I was watching her wither
away slowly over seven months time. It was my brother in law, who had
never seen my mother in his whole life, walking into her hospital room
with me and becoming so upset over her begging me to remove the
restraints that the hospital had placed on her and take her home that
he became hysterical and had to leave the room to sob in the hallway.
It's the MILLIONS spent on her medical care, just to keep her alive
and comfortable.
It's the fact that no amount of money saved her life, and one small
warning about the possible ill health effects of breast implants that
could have prevented the pain and agony she, and we, endured for over
twenty years.
If that bothers you, Ken, that's just tough ****, and if it bothers
you that I have such a strong opinion on the matter that is ALSO tough
****.
