tl;dr: I need storage space in northern NY state (from a collector)

by ravagejunk@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jul 18, 2008 at 11:24 PM

What's the story? Basically, I'm looking to get help in im****ting toys
for my collection. I'm not a reseller. I just need a place to send it
and store it. I'll do the pick-up and im****ting myself.
Sorry if this post is really long. Hopefully it's organized well
enough that you can skip what you don't need.

I'm looking for someone:
1) in northern New York state.
2) has many references/feedback as a seller.
3) doesn't mind receiving lots of packages in the mail.
4) has space in their house to store a big pile of packed toys.
5) will do this for "pocket change", based on quantity, a few cash
tips.

notes on a few of the points above:
1) Ideally somewhere close to Ottawa Ontario Canada; north of the
Adirondack Park; like Watertown, Ogdensburg, Massena, Malone, or
Plattsburgh. Possibly as far as Syracuse. Rochester or Buffalo also
might work under certain cir***stances.
3) I don't know how much free time you have. Ideal situation would be
if you have enough time every few weeks to see how new arrivals were
packed, and if the contents are all present and undamaged. A digital
camera might make that fast and avoid any thinking.
4) Storage size is estimated at an area as big around as a recliner
chair. that's like... two feet by two feet, I guess. Probably like
four feet tall. and can hold it all year. (I intend to start filling
it as soon as I empty it anyway) Access to some large boxes to put the
smaller boxes in would be nice. (a grocery store, or for bigger boxes,
an appliance store)
Storage space free from water damage or cockroaches. Extreme
temperatures or humidity, and tobacco smoke (cigarettes) would also be
factors I'd like to know about. (temperature and humidity effect vac-
metalized chrome and some rubber materials)
5) if we share common interests, I'll keep an eye out for deals. I'm
mainly a Transformers collector, and pretty good at finding the best
prices online, but I also casually collect the more detailed sculpting
work, like some of the McFarlane stuff, Final Fantasy, Four
Horsemen... I'm in the official Transformers fan club, so there's
access to the store exclusives and the ability to buy previous years
freebie toys.

more backstory:
I'm sick to death of eBay sellers constantly ruining my plans by
either not selling to a Canadian like me, (which really sucks for rare
items. the salt in the wound is when it sells cheap) and/or charging
me two to four times the ****pping costs. All that on top of UPS and
FedEx who charge exorbitant customs handling fees, or the likelihood
of being taxed. (I'm ashamed to say I'm not very patriotic when it
comes to paying taxes. It's hard when you're already paying more.)
Yeah, ok. You know what that really means. I'm a cheap bastard. :) The
truth is, I see potential, and I hate to see it wasted. I've had
service like this in the past, for years, and it really sucks not
having it. I scrambled when I lost it to try and find someone else to
help me, but the past few years it's only been tem****ary.
It's all 100% legal. I buy toys (and the occasional book, DVD, or
computer part). There's a tax-free amount that we're allowed to bring
back into the country based on the length of our visit to the USA,
which I've made good use of in the past.
One day I'd like to open up a Transformers museum. Help fuel my
commercialist desires!

Please use a subject I can recognize if you email me, like "RE:"+ the
subject I used for this thread. Ideally, post a reply here as well as
an email so I don't miss your reply.
