Occording to J.E. Alvarez's TF Guide Book (2nd Edition), page 55:
"Like in 1985 and 1986, there were several mail-away figures this year.
All
were offered in the same brochure and the characters included were
Megatron,
Thundercracker, Reflector, Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Mirage,
Ratchet Cosmos, Warpath, and the Hubcap figure offered as Cliffjumper."
Why was this? Does he mean that all they did was rereleas G1 Hubcap
(yellow-repaint, and head-modified from G1 Cliffjumper) as a new G1
Cliffjumper? For what reason?
Also, why was the G2 Hubcap toy, the same mold as G1 Hubcap and G1
Cliffjumper,
painted red like G1 Cliffjumper? The head is still like G1 Cliffjumper's,
but...?
Also:
"The S.T.A.R.S. playset, a Transformers poster, the techspec manual, a
S.T.A.R.S. member****p card which could change from Autobot to Decepticon,
and
an iron-on patch. This set is extremely hard to find and generall sells
for
around two-hundred dollars plus."
Is there a site out there that talks about this, and shows pictures and
what-not? That'd help too.
I need this info as G1 virtual season 4 will mostly-use the G1 American
1987
toys, and these are some of them. Obscure, but still "part of the plan".
Finally, do you think we should use the "decoys" that come with some of
the
1987 U.S. G1 toys?
Thanks! :)
