I have been reading about schools that have initiated Zero Tolerance
rules that require any student carrying any form of drug or weapon to
be suspended or expelled. On one hand, I can see that administrators
need to take a tough stance against violence in order to make schools
a place where everyone is free to learn. Yet, on the other I have
heard stories about children who were expelled for having a nail
clipper or Advil. Isn't it possible for schools to come up with tough
anti-violence rules that allow for exceptions like the ones mentioned
above?
