I read your posting and would like to congratulate you on choosing to
become a kindergarten teacher! I am currently a 7-12 Spanish teacher,
and took a fascinating graduate class this summer about Language and
Literacy. It focused on selecting appropriate children's literature
for the classroom. I collected a wide range of recommended titles and
authors from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The idea was to
expand beyond the traditional historical European-based children's
