Teacher Training

by anyafriend@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Erica) Aug 4, 2004 at 10:00 PM

I am an elementary education major who is fini****ng up my program and
will be a certified teacher in about a year. After going through the
program and discussing with others about education programs, I was
wondering what are some thoughts about theory versus experience? I
went through a program that relied heavily on theory, and now that i
will be starting my student teaching, I feel unprepared for actual
teaching, although I now have enough theory to justify about anything
that might come up. Should teacher education programs give students
more hours in a classroom and less hours learning about education?
What kind of experiences are most benefical to train teachers? I am
just looking for some thoughts from both other students in education
programs and teachers.
