High-Stakes *****sment

by "khetland" <kmhetland@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 21, 2006 at 08:19 AM

Ever since Clinton's goals 2000, high-stakes *****sment has become an
extremely controversial issue. Many see testing as a good thing
because we can gauge where students are at and help them better achieve

academically. On the other hand, some individuals feel that
high-stakes *****sment is detrimental to learning because it forces
teachers to teach to the test and therefore doesn't leave enough time
to teach students what they really need to learn. As a future teacher,
I am wondering if you have any advice as to how I can deal with
preparing my students for the tests, yet still ensure that they are
getting the education they need?
