Does he truly need at nap? I've known a few 2-3 yr olds who were ready to
give
up their naps by that age.

I found with my neice and nephew (they were older, though) that I would
tell
them they needed to just lie down and have quiet time for 30 minutes and
I'd
set a clock or timer. THey didn't have to go to sleep, but they could
read a
book or close their eyes and be quiet. If they fell asleep, I removed the
timer or turned off the clock alarm. Most of the time they fell asleep.
If
not, at least I got 30 minutes of quiet time myself.

Tv, videos, video games, radio, cd player, anything that made noise was
not
allowed during the time.

Maybe something like that would work for your son?
