Re: Getting toddler to go to sleep without rocking?

I agree with this 100%.
My 8 month old will only go to sleep at home when I "rock him down".

At daycare they simply put him on his stomach and rub his back and off he
goes.
Never ever has this worked for me at home! (well, maybe twice)

It was a transition for him. He started going to daycare at 4 months. They
put him in his crib at nap time and he would sleep.
Around 6 months he started refusing to sleep. They asked if they could put
him on his stomach. (I was scared of sids) Once he was allowed to sleep on
his stomach, he did just fine. Last month (at 8 months) they transitioned
him to his own nap pad. This worked as well.

At home, we still rock and cuddle and sing. He will usually let me know
when
he is ready to lay down with a little squirming. When he is sick, the only
place he wants to sleep is on me.

Your baby will get the hang of napping at daycare too!

hugs,
jojo
