Re: 16-month old cries every night - why?

If the cures for night terrors don't work, then think about things that
might have changed in his life about the time the problem began.  A new
food?  That might indicate a food allergy.  A new bedtime routine?
Maybe something about it doesn't work for him.  Does he have ANY
problems that don't seem connected, such as rashes, earaches, anything
at all?  Get him a routine physical and ask his physician to look hard;
maybe something hurts him, not enough to bother with during the day, but
something that hurts just enough to disrupt his sleep at a particular
time of his sleep cycle.

It's probably night terrors, and the method for dealing with those
usually work.  The other suggestions are just in case you need a
different solution.
