In general, I don't like using teachers as law enforcement officials
or children as informants against their parents. There are probably
millions of kids in the public schools who are not in the U.S. legally
or whose parents are not legal. Suppose a teacher finds out that a
student or his parents is illegal. Should she be required to re****t
the student or parents to immigration? I'd say no.

I do think the U.S. is adversely affect by illegal immigration and
could certainly cite horrific crimes committed by illegals, just as
you can cite crimes stemming from illegal drugs. I would sup****t
requiring local police to re****t the names of the people they arrest
to the federal government so that legal residency could be
established. But teachers are not police.
