I agree. But it is possible to imagine cases where the parents' drug
use does not endanger the child, but the child mentions to the teacher
that the drug use occurs. In that case I don't think the teacher
should be obliged to re****t the parents. During Prohibition, I am sure
that some parents drank at home without harming their kids. Today
there are probably parents using say marijuana who are not harming
their kids.

If teachers were required by law to re****t any law-breaking at the
homes of students that they learned of, regardless of whether there
was any danger to the child, then teachers effectively would become
part of the law enforcement system. I would not like to see that.
